Foster Love Bell County Offers Comfort and Critical Support to Children in Crisis
In a welcoming home on Main Street in Belton, Foster Love Bell County provides a safe space for children navigating the uncertainty of foster care. The nonprofit offers short-term stays, resources, and emotional support during transitional periods when foster placements are not immediately available.
Executive Director Katie McRae says the organization "exists in the gaps," stepping in to offer warm beds, showers, pajamas, and play areas so children don’t have to wait in offices or hotel rooms. The house also supports caseworkers and foster families with conference spaces, a “Love Closet” full of free essentials, and family support groups.
As Bell County faces a shortage of 200 foster families, Foster Love underscores the urgent need for local foster homes to prevent children from being sent far away or separated from siblings. During Foster Child Awareness Month, McRae reminds the community that “everyone can do something”—from fostering to donating time or resources.

Temple Opens First Renewable Natural Gas Facility in Central Texas
The City of Temple has unveiled a new Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Facility at the Temple Landfill, marking a major step toward sustainable energy. Owned by the city and operated by Waste Management, the nearly $50 million facility will capture methane gas naturally produced by the landfill, clean it, and convert it into low-emission energy to power local communities and businesses.
This is the first facility of its kind in Central Texas and part of Waste Management’s broader investment in renewable energy infrastructure.
2025 Parade of Homes Showcases Local Craftsmanship and Innovation
The Temple Area Builders Association has announced the 2025 Parade of Homes, set for May 9–11 and May 16–18. Featuring 29 beautifully crafted homes across East Bell County, the event highlights cutting-edge design, energy efficiency, and local builder excellence. Sponsored by Central National Bank and the Temple Daily Telegram, the parade offers free admission and is open from 6–8 p.m. on Fridays and noon–5 p.m. on weekends. Visitors can explore a wide variety of home styles and gain inspiration for future projects. For details, visit tdtnews.com.
